My Sigma Haul

I couldn’t resist Sigma any longer! Seeing as I’m on a no (or low) buy thanks to my project 10 pan, this haul wasn’t paid with my own money 🙂 It was my sister’s late Christmas present to me.

Prior to this order, I owned 2 Sigma brushes – the ss219 (e30 pencil brush) and the ss188 (f55 small duo fibre). I acquired these through swaps and blog sales etc and I was surprised at their quality!

I took advantage of their 10% off for Valentine’s Day and placed an order for:
e45 small tapered blending (ss226)
e40 tapered blending (ss224)
e60 large shader brush (ss252)
e30 pencil brush – yes, another one. I love this!

Shipping to Australia for the 4 brushes cost me $10.76 which I thought was reasonable. Shipping does depend on how many items you purchase though 🙂

I placed an order on the 15th, received confirmation a couple of minutes later and a “your order has shipped” email on the 17th. The Sigma brushes arrived on my door step on Monday (28th) afternoon. So expect them to take at least a week to arrive.

They arrived in a large box and the brushes were housed in a cute red drawstring bag.

Also included with the brushes I ordered was a freebie – a travel size e25 (ss217) – for ordering over $30! 🙂

I Had No Idea 28g Was *THAT* Much – Coastal Scents and Silica Powder

I’ve ordered from Coastal Scents twice now. Coincidently, my two orders were placed exactly 3 years apart haha – right down to the date!

Both times I ordered, I experienced great customer service. Prompt, quick and clear communication. Seriously. That’s what every company should strive for.

As for shipping, I usually just choose the cheapeast shipping option (First Class Mail International something or other) and it arrives within 2 weeks give or take a couple of days. Plus, they don’t charge you something ridiculous to ship small items!

For example – my recent order of 3 x 30 grams sifter jars and 3 x 28 grams of silica powder cost me about $9 in shipping to Australia. The items were packaged very well and it came in a big box.

As for the items I purchased, they were for my sister, cousin and aunty hehe. We honestly had no idea how much 28 grams of silica powder would be! But what the heck? So cheap.

That’s another great thing about Coastal Scents. They offer great products at a fraction of the cost. I purchased a duo fibre brush from them back in 2008 and 3 years later, it’s still in great shape 🙂

I’d definitely recommend purchasing from Coastal Scents if you ever get the chance 🙂

After transferring 2/3 of the silica powder into the sifter jar, my desk looked like a cocaine lab or something.

OCC Lip Tars

Per my past post about OCC lip tars and Lehved, I decided to just order some to take advantage of the 20% off storewide sale.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics are known for their lip tars and was all the rage on YouTube a while back.

What are lip tars?

Well, according to OCC’s website,

A stunning new innovation in lip color, OCC Lip Tar combines the longevity of a lipstick, with the ease of application of a gloss. Goes on slick and moist, and dries down to a satin finish. Ultra-saturated in color, Lip Tar contains an unprecedented amount of pigment – a little goes a very, very long way! An intense yet featherweight layer of color that stands up to the scrutiny of Hi-Def Video and Digital Photography, without ever looking (or feeling!) heavy. Meant to be mixed, Lip Tar comes in concise array of colors for a limitless selection of shades made by you!

These retail for $12.50USD/$16AUD and you get 0.27oz/8ml of product but as many have stated, a little goes a very long way so these will definitely last you a long long time!

For my Aussie readers, the two Australian-based retailers that I know of are Lehved and Makeup and Glow. Both are selling these at the same price with similar shipping options ($6.95 registered or $10 express).

Alternatively, you can also order from AllCosmeticsWholesale for $12.50USD + shipping (shipping is charged by weight so it’d depend on your whole order).

So I just wanted to praise Lehved for their lightning fast shipping and great service.

I ordered from their website on Sunday night, received a confirmation email on Monday afternoon along with dispatch email and today (Tuesday!), I am holding the lip tars in my hands 🙂

I’ll be posting swatches soon 🙂

Net Optical Website Review

Net Optical Australia is an online contact lens supplier and after doing my research, I was happy to make my first order with them. Having been in the business for over 10 years, I felt comfortable placing an order. Their web interface is very simple and easy to use. I’ve come across other websites offering contact lenses but I was stumped as to how I was supposed to order.

The website offers various brands of contact lenses – Acuvue, Air Optix, Freshlook, Proclear etc. They are based in Queensland and in regards to shipping within, it’s a flat rate cost of $6 and free shipping if your order is over $200. For those of you in Queensland, you can also opt to pick up your order instead thus eliminating the $6 shipping cost.

Bubble wrapped package.

Payment options are actually really important for me when it comes to online shopping. I prefer to pay via PayPal but Net Optical doesn’t offer this option. However, they do offer secure credit card payments (Visa and MasterCard), bank transfers, money orders and cheques. In my case, I opted for the credit card payments as it was much more convenient for me.

So here’s a timeline of my order with Net Optical Australia:

17/08/2010 – I placed my order and within five minutes of submitting my order, I received an email to confirm that my order has been received as well as a payment confirmation email.
19/08/2010 – Received an email to inform me that my order was express posted!
20/08/2010 – Order received.

Got my order safe & sound.

Three days for the order to get processed and delivered. Very nice! I am definitely impressed with the service and I would be ordering from Net Optical Australia much more often 😀

PS. They have a referral system going on so I’d appreciate it if you do order from the website, please put down JNTTL in the referral code box 🙂

Shopping Experience at Sasa

And yet, I’ve only started wearing sunscreen recently. Oops! Here’s my “excuse”: You see, I’ve got sensitive skin and it tends to break out heaps easy when using new products..sooo, I just avoid using new products lol. But this sunscreen got good reviews on MUA so I trust it 😀

Ordered if off Sasa for ~$10.80AUD + free shipping cos I used a free shipping code. It was the first time I ordered off Sasa so I was a bit weary regarding the estimated days for shipping but as it turns out, I was worried for nothing.

17 March – Ordered and received invoice. Paid.
19 March – Dispatch notification.
26 March – Arrived at the front doot 🙂

All up, it took 10 days from Hong Kong! Came in a box and packaged very well. No flimsy half-assed packaging at Sasa 😛

So onto the sunscreen. On the website, it’s called the Mentholatum SUNPLAY Skincare UV Moisture Milk SPF 50 PA+++ (42g) and so far, so good. Milk consistency but dries matte. No break outs as of yet..fingers crossed. Detailed review to come after I’ve used it for a longer period of time.

But til then, I’m happy to say that Sasa has rightly deserved its spot on my personal online shops list.

My First Strawberrynet Haul

Strawberrynet has been around for a long time but I never purchased from them despite the glowing reviews from their customers until now. Well, not now, but prior to Christmas. They had some great Christmas specials going on and this haul wasn’t planned for me. You see, it was for L’s KK present for a work colleague but it didn’t arrive in time so I thought, what the heck?

I present to you Stila – Black is the New Black Set which included: an eyeshadow pan in Pewter, smudge pot in Black and convertible lash + line. Guess how much this cost me? $18AUD. Yep, $18! Strawberrynet offers free worldwide shipping as well so no additional postage costs 🙂

They shipped it off the next day after receving payment and it arrived pretty quick considering it was the holiday season but not quick enough to make it for L’s pressie for her colleague 😦
They kept me up to date with every process – received a confirmation email as well as a “we’ve shipped your order and here’s the tracking number” email.

Here’s a quick swatch of the eyeshadow. It’s described as a shimmering grey back but as you can see, there’s hints of a metallic blue in the mix too with some silver shimmer. I’ve owned a few Stila eyeshadows and the texture’s amazing. Buttery smooth; glides on with a lot of
pigmentati0n.

So would I repurchase from Strawberrynet again? Yep.
What about Stila products? Definitely!
