IMATS Is Coming

Sorry about the lack of posts during these past few weeks. I had 2 assignments and 2 tests this week so I’ve been a bit stressed. But now that they are over, I have IMATS & ABBW to look forward to!

IMATS (International Make-up Artist Show) is basically a huge beauty expo with all the big names – MAC, Inglot, Hakuhodo and Make Up For Ever.

Last year, I could not attend the show because I had prior commitments but this year, I’ll be going as a part of the inaugural ABBW. ABBW (Australian Beauty Bloggers Weekend) is on the weekend of the 24th and 25th where 80 beauty loving bloggers will descend upon Sydney and party it up! However, if you are not attending the ABBW, no worries – IMATS is open to the public too! Don’t you just love that? I mustn’t be the only person who hates expos and trade shows that are only open to professionals especially when I have an interest in it 🙂 The more the merrier.

So in all the excitement leading up the weekend, I thought it be best that I come up with a wishlist/shopping list so I won’t miss out on anything!

Crown Brush

– Black Paris Trolley Case $179

I’ve been on the lookout for a traincase for so long and I think I might bite the bullet and buy one at IMATS.

– Brushes!

I’ve heard great things about Crown Brushes and the quality of their makeup brushes so I’m definitely going to purchase some.

Hakuhodo

These are pretty luxurious brushes and for the price they charge, I sure hope they’re worth it. I’m hoping to grab a brush or two (budget permitting) and see if they’re worth the hype 😀

MAC

Um. This goes without saying! Gonna grab some brushes (Can you all sense a theme here? I need more brushes!!) and maybe a couple of more eyeshadows.

Make Up For Ever

I have always wanted to try their Aqua Liners. You see, I have this problem where eyeliners just don’t wanna stay on my waterline. Oooh, and their HD blushes ($45). Mine hardened up and I don’t know why.

And that is all…for now! I’m sure that there’ll be some more additions and I’ll probably come home with more. I mean, being surrounded by 80+ beauty bloggers? That’s asking for trouble.

Want to make your own list? Check out the list of exhibitors here.

IMATS also has speakers and the ones I’m absolutely looking forward to are Pursebuzz (!!), Rae Morris and Nicole Thompson. (Full schedule for speakers can be found here).

If any of my readers (who are not already attending IMATS as part of ABBW) are in Sydney on the 24th and 25th of September 2011, come join in on the fun!

Location: Sydney Convention Centre

Hours:

Saturday: 8.30am – 5.00pm

Sunday: 10.00am – 5.00pm

Note: You do not need any cosmetic credentials to gain entry into the show. Open to the public, yeah!!

Tickets are available at the door unless they’re sold out so I suggest you pre-purchase these tickets online to avoid disappointment.

Ticket prices:

2 day pass $65

1 day pass (adult) $40

1 day pass (child) $20

Hope to see everyone there 😀

Being A Beauty Blogger Means…THIS

Aah, the perils of being a beauty blogger. I have a basket full of samples just waiting to be used so I can review them but I’m currently trialling a new facial moisturiser to review so I can’t exactly start using all these new products on my face because then I wouldn’t know what’s what and what is (if!) breaking me out…Booo.

And then I have another box full of unused full-size products. I really want to open them up and play with them but must. refrain. 😦

Tell me I’m not the only one!

We’ve Moved!

Hey everyone,

Hope you can all view my blog properly. Might come across some teething problems.

If there are any issues, please let me know either by comment or on Twitter (@beauty_snippets).

Please update your links and/or blogrolls with the new url 🙂

FYI

I’ve decided to not to the calendar challenge because it was a lot of work catching up 😦

However, starting from the 1st of May, I will be doing a weekly challenge where I will try & use different products everyday for a week – like a shop your stash challenge.

I was trying to purge my stash when I realised I’ve got so many products that I have not used in a long time!

My Weekend

Technically, this was last weekend but I haven’t had the chance to blog about it 🙂

Last Sunday, the boyfriend & I headed into the city to take advantage of the good weather.

We got to the city pretty early so we had yum cha in Chinatown. No pictures here cos I was starving & quickly ate everything.

For Valentine’s Day, I got him vouchers to go jetboating 🙂 & seeing as we’re nearing Winter here, I thought it was a good idea to go now before the weather got too cold!

Knowing that we were going to get wet, I just wore sunscreen & my Becca Watermelon beach tint.

Now, these extreme sports are not my thing at all but my boyfriend loves them! So I put on my big girl panties & got into that jetboat feeling nervous!

Those purple ponchos did not help at all. Everyone ended up being super soaked from head to toe. I must say – it was quite fun & exciting :D!

**Remember in my Becca post (here), I said I was going to test them re: water resistant? Well, I used Watermelon & it definitely held up after I was soaked in sea water. Left a really nice tint which looked really natural.**

After being soaked, we dried off for a bit at Circular Quay before heading to dinner at Mamak.

Mamak is a very popular Malaysian restaurant located in Chinatown. Every time we walk past this restaurant, without a fail, there’s a line out the door. Luckily, we managed to get there at about 5.35pm & were able to grab 1/3 remaining tables left. They open at 5.30pm for dinner! So lucky.

Roti canai $5.50 (the original roti. crispy on the outside, fluff on the inside. served with two curry dips & spicy sambal sauce.)

Chicken (or you can choose beef) satay $9 (for half a dozen) or $16 (for a dozen) (grilled over flaming charcoal for that authentic Malaysian flavour. served with a sweet & spicy peanut sauce.)

Maggi goreng $11.50 (a popular mee goreng variation using Maggi noodles.)
Mee goreng $11.50 (wok-tossed hokkien noodles with eggs, prawns, fish cake slices & fresh bean sprouts.) *this was really spicy!*
Teh tarik $3.50 (classic Malaysian sweetened tea, ‘stretched’ for a frothy topping.)
Teh ais $3.50 (ice milk tea)

Food was delicious. Even the boyfriend enjoyed it – must be good if a Malaysian thought so! Hehe. That’s my theory when it comes to food – if a Spanish person recommends a Spanish restaurant then it must be exceptionally good etc

At this point, I was so full to the point where I just wanted to roll out of the packed restaurant. My boyfriend had other ideas. He always leaves room for dessert so we (well, he dragged me) to Passionflower where we had our usual crepes with two ice creams – pandan & mango flavour.

That concludes probably one of the best weekends I’ve had so far this year. So eventful & so glad to have a boyfriend like mine 🙂

Something For My Readers

Especially for the Aussie readers 🙂

I found a website (iHerb.com) stocking the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque for $3.83usd for a large 8oz or a 227g. And shipping is a flat rate of $4. I’ve tried looking on eBay for a tube of this miracle masque only to be like this O_O when I saw the prices those sellers were charging!

Also, when you’re at the checkout, enter the code HUY599 and you’ll get $5 off your total for your first order 🙂 So essentially, you could be paying $2.83 for a tube of the masque! Bargain or what?

Enjoy 🙂

Happy new year, everyone 🙂

Venturing Into Videos…Maybe

Hope everyone’s enjoying the festive season!

I loved my presents this year 🙂 I got an iPod touch from the boyfriend, a Thomas Sabo charm bracelet from my mum, a canvas of photos from my cousin and my sister’s getting me Sigma brushes 🙂

One thing I look forward to every year would be the Boxing Day sales. But this year, I found that the sales weren’t all that great. I grabbed a couple of accessories from Colette and Lovisa and some undergarments from Bras n Things. That’s it! So disappointed.

My mum took advantage of the sales and purchased a Canon digital video camera. This may or may not be the thing which gets me into videos. I’m going to try it out and maybe do a collection video 🙂

Once again, stay safe lovelies!

xxxxooo

Happy Holidays!

I would like to wish all my readers and followers a merry Christmas and a happy new year 🙂

Remember to stay safe during this festive season xxxoo
